Elite rods have better base stats, so it will be easier to play. Consequently they have a higher base rating, so you'll have higher chance of finding target fish.

Also Elite rods have higher max stats and max rating, so you can either unlock less attachments to get the same results or have even better chances with target fish when you fully upgrade the rod.
