The bonus gold is unlocked when you purchase your stadium. It is automatically added to your gold total with no message.

 

There is no additional bonus gold. Sometimes you will see a message indicated it has been collected: this is just a reminder that you already received 400 bonus gold when you unlocked the stadium.
